Introducing Feminist Scrapbook School

We are proud to announce the opening of the Awesome Ladies Project Feminist Scrapbook School. ALP Feminist Scrapbook School is an art school that evolved from the Awesome Ladies Project community and our previous ALP All Access club membership.

Here, we teach people how to tell the stories of their lives with pictures, words, their favorite creative supplies, and the bits of life we pick up along the way. And most importantly, we teach people how to do it in ways that work for their own lives.

Spring & Fall Semesters

Our curriculum is divided into spring and fall semesters (with self-paced content available during our summer and winter breaks).

Each semester begins with an orientation week (our Spring Semester Orientation was just held this past week), and then we dive into our practice and theory for the semester.

Practice

Our “Practice” here is called Daily Pages.

Daily Pages are a creative self-documenting habit started by rukristin in the summer of 2018. Daily Pages are about pulling a small amount of paper, thoughts, photos, words, or bits of life into a small notebook. They’re a creative habit for you to tell your stories.

Your pages can be as simple or elaborate as you want them to be. You can use whatever supplies you have on hand. There is no right or wrong way to approach this project. You don’t have to create pages daily (rukristin creates hers M-F). There are no specific supplies that you need. You can use what you’ve got on hand, whatever you love the most right now, or anything else you want.

Our Daily Pages practice is about choosing what works for you and your life.

Inside FSS, there are multiple ways for you to interact with the Daily Pages Practice, including our fan-favorite Daily Pages Livestream, held every M-F at Noon ET (more details below). If that doesn’t work for your schedule, we’ve got an entire library of recordings, classes, and other events to help you build your practice.

Theory

Our Theory here at Feminist Scrapbook School is found predominantly inside our live classes during the semester. Each semester we have two live classes (held one after the other), each with weekly live lessons and a classroom filled with resources, worksheets, and more.

2023 Spring Semester Classes are:

  • 30 Days of Showing Up
  • Book of Me: Find Your Voice

Classes are offered in various ways: live lessons, workbooks, audio lessons, video lessons, and transcripts… so no matter which way you learn best, you can take advantage of our instruction. It’s important to us that you can show up in the way that works best for you and get what you need.

Why Feminist Scrapbook School?

Why did we move away from The Awesome Ladies Project All Access Club and into ALP Feminist Scrapbook School? We felt that throughout the past few years, this more accurately reflects what we’re actually doing inside our ALP paid membership.

And that’s for two big reasons: Learning & Boundaries.

Learning

Learning is a core value for many of our members. People come to the ALP to learn about scrapbooking, storytelling, feminism, and how to do it in a way that works for their own lives. We wanted to spotlight that.

Boundaries

Sometimes it’s time for learning. Sometimes it’s just time to hang out. We wanted to separate that. It’s important that members know that they’re always welcome in our community space, even if there isn’t space in their lives for another class, another project, or more learning at the moment.

    1. Hey Emma!
Feminist Scrapbook School is a separate membership. All live classes are always recorded.

Our live Daily Pages class (M-F) is at Noon ET (5 pm London). This will 99.999% likely never change.

For this semester — our weekly course live lessons are at 7pm ET (midnight London). We also have other live events during the week, which are not courses but are complementary to the course materials. Office Hours (question and coaching time) are 3 pm ET (8pm London), and Study Hall (quiet co-working) is Tuesday and Friday 1:30-3pm ET (6:30-8pm London).
