Staying Creative While Self-Isolating

So, Covid-19. What a time we are living in! Countries in lockdown. People panic buying (why the toilet paper people???). Physical distancing. Self-isolation. Homeschooling for some of us (please send alcohol LOL).

What do crafters do at times like this? We come together online, offer freebies, virtual hangouts, free or discounted classes. Things to keep us busy and help those who want to record this moment in history. In the interest of sharing I thought I’d create a list of all these goodies as I find them. Thanks to all who are creating and sharing during this time.

Starting here at the Awesome Ladies where there is a bunch of amazing resources to help us document our “Right Now”

There’s the Currently List challenge. It’s as simple as taking five minutes each week and writing down what is going on in your right-now life, using the same 7 one-word prompts each week. Sharing on Instagram? Use the hashtag #CurrentlyList and tag @the_awesome_ladies_project

The Thursday 3 challenge is a great way to get a little bit of your story down each week AND get some more snaps of yourself. It’s as easy as 1,2,3.

  1. Snap a photo of yourself.
  2. Write down three things about your right now
  3. Tag three friends to play along with you. (it’s a great way to encourage others to share their stories too)

Kristin & Amanda discussed Thursday3 on the Crafty Ass Female podcast.
You can listen to that episode here. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #Thursday3 and tag @the_awesome_ladies_project

Want to do something that is just creative? Give the Daily Pages challenge a go. Daily Pages is the practice of taking a small notebook (think Passport size notebook) and spending five minutes creating a single or double-page spread.

It’s about working your creative muscles, playing with new techniques with no fear of failure and building a habit that works for you. If you can’t spend time every day, don’t stress.

Maybe it is a habit you can work up to. For some people daily is Monday to Friday, for others it is every other day. It’s a great way to practice, learn what you like, what you don’t like, all in a small space. Join the Daily Pages Challenge here.

The 100 Day Project started on April 7th and this is a perfect time to do the All About Me: The 100 Questions Challenge. Kristin has created a list of 100 introspective questions to help you document your story. You can make it as fancy or as simple as you like – a complete scrapbook or a simple notebook.

Lots of fancy embellishments or none at all. Even if you have done this project before, it’s a great one to revisit to see if your answers have changed.
