I Finally Fell for a Mini Printer

For a long time, I was totally amazed by all the little printed photos everyone used on their Daily Pages—but I never had the right setup to do it myself. My regular printer is great, but it just doesn’t make small, high-quality prints. After a lot of hesitation (and research), I finally decided to take the plunge and get a mini printer.

I went with the Canon Zoemini 2 (or Ivy 2, depending on where you live). Here’s why it was the right choice for me:

  • I only wanted small photos, so I didn’t need a printer that could handle larger formats.
  • It’s easy to use—same charger as my other devices, simple setup, just load the paper and print.
  • The paper refills aren’t outrageously priced, which made the ongoing cost manageable.
  • The print quality is right in the middle: good enough for clear images, without the fine lines or streaks you sometimes see on lower-end options.

First Impressions & Tips

  • I struggled a bit at first with resizing my photos in the companion app—it took me a while to figure out the zoom and crop features.
  • But beyond that? It’s so easy.
  • I mostly print photos of people, since I love to draw the objects and backgrounds myself (or at least try to!).
  • My next project idea is to print small photos of random things I notice—little textures, corners, patterns—and then draw or journal about what those images make me think of on the next page.

Here are a few examples of how I’ve been using it so far!

  1. Thanks so much for your feedback…I bought one! It was fairly easy to set up and to use, BUT all my pix are blue and I haven’t been able to troubleshoot a fix yet! 😉 Update to come!!
